High pressure centered north of the region will maintain a dry airmass and mostly clear skies across the area today. Afternoon highs are expected to range from the upper 70s to lower 80s. For tonight, high pressure will slide eastward with surface winds become light out of the southeast late tonight. This will increase low level moisture across the region, and some patchy fog may develop during the overnight hours. Overnight lows are expected to range from the mid 50s to mid 60s. .SHORT TERM [Sunday Through Monday]... An upper level trough and associated surface cold front will approach and transit the forecast area Sunday through Sunday night. No rain is expected with the front just a modest increase in cloudiness along and ahead of the boundary. It will be warm Sunday with highs reaching the lower 80s. In the wake of the front, a cooler and much drier airmass will begin to filter in on northerly winds. Lows Sunday night will range from the upper 40s northwest to around 60 southeast. Highs Monday around 70 north to the lower and mid 70s south. .LONG TERM [Monday Night Through Saturday]... Dry weather will continue through the extended period. Upper level troughing will gradually transition to ridging. Surface high pressure will remain north of the area while sliding southeastward from the Upper Plains to off the mid-Atlantic seaboard by Friday. Low level flow will be northerly becoming more easterly by the end of the workweek. This will keep min/max temps near to below seasonal levels through Thursday with a slow warming trend to above seasonal levels by the first part of next weekend. Highs will mostly range from the upper 60s to mid 70s through Thursday and mid to upper 70s Friday and Saturday. Lows will range from the mid 40s to around 50 through Wednesday night warming to the lower to upper 50s by Friday night. && .AVIATION... [Through 06Z Sunday] Some patchy fog around VLD is expected to result in occasional MVFR conditions there through sunrise, but otherwise VFR conditions are expected to prevail through the period at all TAF sites. && .MARINE... Light to moderate east to south winds through Sunday afternoon shifting to the west and northwest and increasing to cautionary levels Sunday night in the wake of a cold front passing through the local waters. Winds and seas are expected to remain elevated at cautionary levels through Wednesday. Brief periods of advisory level winds and seas are possible Tuesday into Wednesday, especially across the offshore segments. && .FIRE WEATHER... Red flag conditions are not expected for the next couple of days. On Monday, some drier air will move into the area with minimum RH values dipping into the low to mid 30s in several areas, but red flag conditions are not currently expected. && .HYDROLOGY...
