Issued at 341 AM CST Tue Nov 10 2020 Ice Storm Warning continues for a swath of counties where ice has accumulated on elevated surfaces. Road temperatures remain above freezing and as of this writing, no major road issues have been reported with the freezing rain areas. A Winter Weather Advisory continues for counties surrounding the Ice Storm Warning for a wintry mix with accumulating snow expected across northeast Nebraska through the afternoon with roughly 2-4 inches across that area. The base of a deep upper trough continues to eject northeast out of southeastern Colorado this morning and is forecast to move across the forecast area by this afternoon. Ahead of this, widespread precipitation continues to spread northeast over the area. Beginning around 10pm last evening, elevated surface began accumulating ice around David City and Columbus areas. This continued to spread northeast, generally along the compact 850mb frontal zone, into Colfax County, Dodge County and into parts of Washington County. Several reports of ice bringing trees/power lines down in these areas. As mentioned earlier, road temperatures remained just above freezing with no significant impacts to roads as road temperatures remained just above freezing. Over our northern counties, behind the front, light icing has mixed with and changed over to snow with snow beginning to stick on the highways per NDOT web cameras. Precipitation will continue to quickly push northeast of the area this morning with some lingering showers before the deformation zone spreads across much of our northern CWA by late morning to bring additional accumulating snowfall into the early afternoon. Generally 2-4" of snow is possible across northeast Nebraska before tapering off by dark as the upper low moves northeast of the region. Surface temperatures are not expected to move far from where they currently sit with the 32F degree line generally residing along I-80 throughout much of the day. Temperatures should begin to fall after dark as dry surface high pressure builds east. Tonight through Monday: Fairly quiet weather with near-normal temperatures is expected with broad troughing over the northern Plains through the remainder of the week. The next chance for measurable precipitation looks to be late Friday into Saturday in association with an elongated shortwave trough. Model blends keep much of this precipitation as rain with a possible snow mix in our northern counties. Otherwise, temperatures through the weekend continue to be near-normal. && .AVIATION...(For the 12Z TAFS through 12Z Wednesday morning) Issued at 540 AM CST Tue Nov 10 2020 Light rain and freezing rain will be possible over the next couple of hours this morning.
