Winds could become gusty Saturday afternoon at all but PEQ/CNM, with gusts to 20-25kt possible through the end of the forecast period. && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 243 PM CST Fri Nov 6 2020/ DISCUSSION... Another pleasant day for West Texas and southeastern New Mexico areas with light winds, sunny skies, and afternoon temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Upper ridging will persist through tonight then transitions to southwest flow aloft as an upper trough digs into southern CA on Saturday. Meanwhile southerly flow at the surface tonight will result in increased moisture so wouldn't be surprised to see low clouds or areas of patchy fog early Saturday morning. Increased moisture will help to keep daytime temperatures a little cooler for Saturday so expect highs in the mid 70s most locations. Southerly winds will increase Saturday across the region as an area of low pressure deepens lee of the Rockies. Conditions will become quite breezy by Sunday and Monday as the upper trough swings through the 4 Corners region, passing to the north of us, and eventually dragging a Pacific cold front through the area late Monday. For now, the higher wind speeds look to be across the Guadalupe Mountains and adjacent plains during this time. Still a little uncertain that the Guadalupe Mountains will reach high wind criteria but will continue to monitor the possibility over the coming days. Although Saturday- Monday will be windy, minimum RHs should remain above critical thresholds but may get close in some areas. Most areas will remain dry for the next 7 days however there is a slim possibility areas in the northeast Permian Basin could see a few showers develop along the Pacific front late Monday night. It will be cooler Tuesday behind the front but temperatures quickly rebound Wednesday. Another upper trough looks to quickly skirt just north of the forecast area later next week sending another front through the region Thursday or Friday. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
