A weak upper wave is passing harmlessly over TX this morning which will send a front through our region today. This front will only serve to shift winds around to the N/NE and bring dry air into the area, but will do little to cool temperatures. Highs should still reach the low to mid 80s as ridging aloft builds in behind the departing shrtwv trof. After a cooler night, southerly return flow will commence tomorrow and bring moisture back into the region. Highs will be a few degrees cooler tomorrow, albeit still above normal. Meanwhile, a deepening upper level trof will move onto the upper CA coast late Friday. This trof will migrate over the Intermountain West region this weekend. As it does so, we will see increasing SW flow aloft which will help to boost temperatures and bring windy conditions to portions of the area, especially Sunday and Monday. On both of these days, a strengthening 40-50kt 700 hpa jet will round the base of the assoc mid-level trof and position itself over the far western CWA. Very windy conditions could materialize over the Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains and adjacent plains with windy conditions expected for most of W TX and SE NM. Unfortunately, the best upper level lift will remain well off to the N of our region, so precipitation chances are still very low this weekend. By late Monday into early Tuesday, the large upper trof will finally swing into the C Plains and send a Pacific front through our region. Cool and dry air will filter into the region behind this front with highs on Tuesday expected to be a few degrees below normal. Temperatures will warm back to near normal by mid-week as W/SW flow aloft redevelops over the region. -Salerno && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
