037 FXUS63 KICT 301055 AFDICT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wichita KS 555 AM CDT Fri Oct 30 2020 .SHORT TERM...(Today through Sunday night) Issued at 213 AM CDT Fri Oct 30 2020 Northwest mid/upper flow will flatten some today as a low amplitude mid/upper ridge translates eastward across the central CONUS. Low level southerly flow will allow temperatures to continue to moderate with highs returning to more seasonable values in the low to mid 60s. Sat-Sun...A vigorous mid/upper trough moving across Manitoba into southwest Ontario on Saturday will drive a cold front south across the Central Plains. This front will keep highs near normal across much of the area on Saturday with afternoon values topping out in the low to mid 60s once again. Breezy northwest winds are anticipated in the wake of the front, but speeds are expected to remain below advisory criteria. As high pressure settles south across the area early on Sunday, light winds and clear skies will lead to excellent radiational cooling and below normal low temperatures. The cooldown will be short-lived with southerly flow returning from west to east although highs will remain below normal on Sunday with most locations seeing highs in the mid 50s. .LONG TERM...(Monday through Thursday) Issued at 213 AM CDT Fri Oct 30 2020 West/Northwest mid to upper flow will result in limited moisture availability across the area through the upcoming week with dry weather conditions and near or slightly above normal temperatures anticipated. We expect to see moderating temperatures as a mid/upper ridge translates slowly eastward across the central CONUS while a subtle shortwave trough is progged to move across the area late Wed into early Thu which could bring a period of clouds and perhaps some sprinkles late Wed. Above normal temperatures will continue in it's wake with highs on Thu climbing into the upper 60s and low 70s. && .AVIATION...(For the 12Z TAFS through 12Z Saturday morning) Issued at 553 AM CDT Fri Oct 30 2020 * VFR conditions expected over the next 24 hrs * MIFG/BR possible this morning * LLWS possible this evening/tonight A warm front moving through the Central Plains this morning will shift east through the day allowing a general S/SW flow to increase through the day and into tonight. Winds aloft will increase as well, especially by this evening, with LLWS conditions possible. Throughout the period, VFR conditions are likely. However, it's possible that MIFG/BR could briefly develop across southern KS early this morning, especially where the wind is light and where the heavier rain fell over the past couple of days. However, at this time we don't see any indication of widespread, or significant, fog development this morning. Martin && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
