Isolated showers moving onshore will affect SGJ, CRG, VQQ, and JAX into the morning hours. Then, scattered showers and storms move in from the southwest likely affecting all sites except SSI by this afternoon. IFR/MVFR ceilings begin to lift after 12Z. Light east- northeast winds tonight will become sustained again around 8-12 knots this afternoon. && .PREV DISCUSSION [804 PM EDT]... .NEAR TERM [Tonight and Tuesday]...Surface high pressure wedging down the east coast as backdoor cold front pushes southward into ne Fl. will maintain our onshore flow as Hurricane Zeta moves from the nw Caribbean Sea into the southern Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday. Patchy fog will be possible late tonight mainly over interior se Ga where winds will be lighter. Low level moisture and instability will increase enough for the chance for showers and isolated thunder over ne Fl Tuesday afternoon. Above average temperatures will persist. .SHORT TERM [Tuesday night through Thursday Night]...Isolated convection on Wednesday will increase over our western zones on Thursday and area-wide Thursday night. An upper low over the Texas-Oklahoma region will move eastward and lift Hurricane Zeta from the central Gulf coast towards the eastern Tn Valley on Thursday. A cold front and upper trough will push across the area Thursday night bringing in cooler and drier air to most of the area by Friday morning. Near record high temperatures possible on Thursday as highs reach the upper 80s with sw winds increasing ahead of the approaching cold front. .LONG TERM [Friday Through Monday]...Cold front will exit the area early Friday morning along with shower activity as upper trough moves off the mid-Atlantic coast. Strong high pressure will build over the ne U.S. Friday night and Saturday which will tighten our pressure gradient and increase the onshore winds. Another cold front will push through the area Sunday night which will bring another surge of ne winds on Monday. The onshore flow will produce a slight chance of coastal showers Saturday through Monday. .MARINE...High pressure wedging down the southeastern seaboard will gradually weaken through midweek. Hurricane Zeta over the nw Caribbean Sea will move northwestward into the south central Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday. Zeta is forecast to impact se Louisiana Wednesday night veering our winds to southerly and then southwesterly. A strong cold front will cross our local waters early Friday morning. Winds will shift to the west and northwest on Friday and then increase from the northeast Friday night and Saturday.
