A ridge of high pressure will hold firm over the NE Pacific through Wednesday night resulting in a "blocky" weather pattern across SE Idaho. Under the blocky pattern, we should expect to see a continuation of dry conditions with strong temperature inversions which may result in potential record or near record low temperatures across the region. Huston LONG TERM...Thursday through Monday. Under the influence of weak high pressure, light winds and mild weather conditions will persist Thursday. Seasonal temperatures are forecast into the 50s and perhaps into the 60s for some. On Friday into Saturday, an almost non-impactful shortwave will pass eastward. Central Idaho, however, is likely to see an increase in winds by Friday resulting from this feature and there are some forecast models who feature precipitation in these areas as well. Over the weekend, winds calm back to light levels and temperatures are forecast into the 50s and 60s. ND AVIATION...Light winds and VFR CIG and VIS will prevail this forecast period under high pressure. ND FIRE WEATHER... Extremely cold conditions will continue today with a moderating trend beginning Tuesday. Temperatures will be above normal by Thursday through next weekend as a ridge moves in. No precipitation is expected through next weekend. GK AIR STAGNATION...Strong radiational inversions and light winds are expected to continue across the region throughout the next 72+hrs likely resulting in an uptick of accumulating particulate matter. After coordinating with DEQ, we will continue to monitor the situation without the need for an Air Stagnation Advisory at this time. Huston/ND && .PIH WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... None. && $$
