857 FXUS64 KSJT 220001 AAA AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED National Weather Service San Angelo TX 701 PM CDT Wed Oct 21 2020 ...New AVIATION... .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Thursday) Issued at 218 PM CDT Wed Oct 21 2020 Skies are partly cloudy to clear across the area this afternoon, with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. Winds are out of the south at 10 to 20 mph and gusty. Winds will diminish to between 5 and 10 mph by the evening hours tonight. Continued southerly flow overnight will keep overnight lows mild, mainly in the mid 60s. The moist southerly flow will also result in another round of low clouds Thursday morning, with skies clearing from late morning through the afternoon hours. Temperatures will be similar to today, with highs in the mid to upper 80s, with another afternoon of gusty south winds. && .LONG TERM... (Thursday night through next Wednesday) Issued at 218 PM CDT Wed Oct 21 2020 A cold front will move south across the area Friday. Highs Friday morning will range from the 60s across the Big Country to around 80 across the Northwest Hill Country, and mainly 70s Saturday. The cold airmass on Friday will be shallow with a saturated boundary layer(low clouds and possible drizzle/fog), so steady to slowly falling temperatures area a good bet for much of the area, with 50s or colder by 00Z Saturday. A warmup on Sunday with highs in the 80s. An arctic cold front will move south across West Central Texas Monday morning, bringing much colder air into the area for early next week. Also, the combination of overrunning of the cold airmass and a strong upper level trough will bring increasing chances of precipitation. Also, the GFS is still advertising minor to moderate winter weather impacts for early part of next week. Will stay mainly with a cold rain for now, but a pretty good bet that winter pcpn will have to be in the Wx grids soon for mainly the northern half of our area. However, confidence is higher for the arctic airmass to bring a freeze to much of the area early next week. && .AVIATION...
