For the High Surf Warning, dangerously large breaking waves of 10 to 14 feet in the surf zone. For the High Rip Current Risk, life-threatening rip currents are expected. * WHERE...Coastal Willacy, Coastal Cameron and Coastal Kenedy Counties. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Warning, until 7 AM CDT Friday. For the High Surf Warning and High Rip Current Risk, until 7 PM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Structural damage to buildings unprotected by seawalls may occur. Gulf water is crossing public beach access points, closing State Highway 100 from Beach Access #4 northward. Expect water crossing Gulf Boulevard with more than one foot of water depth. Driving on beaches, even in vehicles equipped with four wheel drive, will be impossible. Severe beach erosion with calving of dunes is likely. Breaking waves can sweep people off jetties and docks and into dangerous seas. Life-threatening swimming conditions and significant beach erosion will occur. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Everyone should remain out of the water due to life-threatening surf conditions. Stay off of jetties, piers, and other waterside infrastructure. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. && $$
