300 FXUS63 KUNR 261925 AFDUNR Area Forecast Discussion For Western SD and Northeastern WY National Weather Service Rapid City SD 125 PM MDT Sat Sep 26 2020 .DISCUSSION...(This Evening Through Saturday) Issued at 111 PM MDT Sat Sep 26 2020 Water vapor shows upper trof over the northwestern and north central CONUS, with low center moving eastward over southern SASK. Cold front now well east of the CWA with very gusty west/northwest winds. -Shra continue across northwest SD into parts of northeast WY, with drier air beginning to move in from MT. Rain showers from northeast WY through northwest SD have delayed the onset of any Red Flag conditions thus far today. However, drier air over southeast MT with low/mid 20s dewpoints will allow RH to drop by later in the afternoon into early evening. Will leave Red Flag Warning in place with quick drying of fine fuels expected. Next wave drops through late tonight and Sunday with another round of strong northwest winds. Will allow evening/night shift to consider further wind highlights once today's winds have subsided. Best chance for showers and higher elevation snow will be across our southwestern zones with this wave. Deep upper trof sets up over the eastern CONUS for much of next week with upper ridge along the west coast. Periodic dry cold fronts with gusty northwest winds will lead to elevated fire weather conditions at times. Temperatures will be near to slightly below average. && .AVIATION...(For the 18Z TAFS Through 18Z Sunday) Issued At 1200 PM MDT Sat Sep 26 2020 Gusty NW winds will also continue this afternoon.
