Looking at fire temperatures on GOES16...the Mullen Wildfire is really cranking out in southeast Carbon County this afternoon. Front moves through this evening shifting winds from southwest to west. They stay elevated through the overnight hours with windy conditions Sunday. .LONG TERM...(Sunday night through Saturday) Issued at 300 PM MDT Sat Sep 19 2020 Winds ease Sunday evening as upper low tracks into the Dakotas. Upper level disturbance will present the opportunity for VCSH this afternoon also for SE WY terminals. Gusty winds of 25-35 knots for WY, up to 20-25 knots for AIA/SNY through 0Z. && .FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 230 PM MDT Sat Sep 19 2020 Strong winds ongoing this afternoon across much of southeast Wyoming...especially west of the Laramie Range. Gusts in excess of 40 mph being observed across FWZ 303 with 30 mph gusts in 304...306...308 and 309. Low pressure that is causing these winds currently over Challis Idaho with cold front from Meeteetse to Evanston Wyoming. Clouds are holding the winds down some and keeping humidity slightly higher...but overall...Red Flag Warnings look good for this afternoon and will continue them through 8 PM. Front moves through southeast Wyoming after 8 PM across Carbon County and towards 2200 for areas east of the Laramie Range. Wind directions become more west to west northwest behind front and will continue overnight into Sunday. Cooler temperatures Sunday will aid in higher humidity and decreased fire weather conditions.
