678 FXUS62 KFFC 290832 AFDFFC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 432 AM EDT Sat Aug 29 2020 .SHORT TERM /Today through Sunday/... Scattered showers mainly moving through north Georgia this morning will continue through the late morning hours as the surface trough pushes southeast across the forecast area area, stalling and lingering over central to south Georgia through Sunday. As the surface boundary sags southward, the surface gradient will relax with wind gusts diminishing to 5-10mph. The boundary will act as a focus for convection in the form of showers and thunderstorms to develop with the aid of good tropical moisture across the area. PWATs will remain near 2 inches across the area through Sunday. With good cloud cover expected this morning and again tomorrow morning, temperatures will remain near normal. Atwell .LONG TERM /Sunday Night through Friday/... Another short wave is expected to cross the OH/TN Valley area Sunday night into Monday. Pops increasing into the likely category during this time frame look reasonable. After this...a trough deepens in the southern Plains and lingers through much of the upcoming week. We remain in essentially a moist west to southwest flow with mostly chance pops during the day and slight chance or low chance pops at night. GFS/ECMWF models indicate that a front may be approaching north GA at the end of the week as a broad trough deepens over the Great Lakes. Models at this point diverge on the surface features...but looks like there will still be at least a chance for showers and thunderstorms on Friday. 41 && AVIATION... 06Z Update...
