A slight chance of showers over the Alaska range on Tuesday. Cloudy and areas of fog will continue across the north slope. .DISCUSSION... Aloft...At 500 hpa...Models in good agreement through the short term. Upper level ridge remains in control for much of the state through Tuesday. A closed 550 dam low will remain the Gulf of Alaska through Wednesday. High pressure center will develop over the central part of the state today as a 568 dam high and move slightly north on Tuesday. The ridge will rebuild over the west coast by Thurday. North Slope and Brooks Range...Cloudy and areas of fog will continue across the north slope. Temperatures remain on the warm side the next couple of days and Inland areas will be quite warm with highs near 70 in the plains. West Coast and Western Interior...Partly cloudy to clear over most of the area with the exception of some morning marine stratus and patchy fog. Winds variable to 10 mph. Western Interior high temperatures will remain in the mid 70s through Tuesday. Central and Eastern Interior...Warmer and drier through Tuesday for much of the Interior. Temperatures will be warmer with highs in the low to mid 70s through Tuesday. A chance of showers will return over the southern Interior on Tuesday as moisture spreads across the Alaska Range from the low in the Gulf of Alaska. Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None. .Fire Weather...Mostly clear in the Interior. Chance of showers southeast of Northway but no wetting rains until at least Tuesday. Temperatures warmer with highs in the 60s and 70s. Winds variable to 10 mph. Relative Humidity values will generally be above 30 percent through Tuesday with excellent overnight recovery. .HYDROLOGY...No issues expected as all but the Upper Tanana Valley will remain dry.
