286 FXUS63 KILX 140042 AFDILX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Lincoln IL 742 PM CDT Thu Aug 13 2020 .SYNOPSIS... Issued at 318 PM CDT Thu Aug 13 2020 A stationary boundary still sitting across southern Illinois will continue to provide the focus for showers and thunderstorms across southeast Illinois tonight through tomorrow. Overnight lows will drop back into the 60s, while afternoon temperatures tomorrow will climb back into the middle to upper 80s. && .UPDATE... Issued at 742 PM CDT Thu Aug 13 2020 Lingering stationary boundary remains to our south this evening. Showers and scattered thunderstorms remain near and south of Olney/Lawrenceville as a weak upper wave moves into the lower Ohio Valley. Not much change expected across this region overnight, while the northern CWA remains under the influence of high pressure centered north of the Great Lakes. Forecast is generally on track and only minor adjustments have been made. && .SHORT TERM...(This evening through Friday) ISSUED AT 318 PM CDT Thu Aug 13 2020 A stationary boundary still remains in southern IL and will stay as the focus for slow moving showers and thunderstorms across southeast IL tonight and again tomorrow. Temperatures tonight will fall into the middle 60s up north where there will be fewer clouds, but only drop into the upper 60s across the southeast where there will be more clouds. Warm and muggy conditions are expected tomorrow with after highs reaching the middle to upper 80s. && .LONG TERM...(Friday night through Thursday) ISSUED AT 318 PM CDT Thu Aug 13 2020 The stationary front will finally wash out tomorrow night, leaving the area with dry weather for Friday night. However, a cold front will approach the area Saturday and bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms to central Illinois, but mainly northwest of I-55. There is a slight chance that some of the precip could reach east of there, but models are showing a weakening trend as the front moves to the east into the evening hours. So, Sat night forecast is for dry weather with the best chance of any precip being well north of the area. Beyond this, the remainder of the extended period calls for dry conditions and temps cooling down into the upper 70s by Tue through Thur of next week. Overnight lows through the period will be much cooler, reaching into the 50s. && .AVIATION...(For the 00Z TAFS through 00Z Friday evening) Issued at 632 PM CDT Thu Aug 13 2020 VFR conditions can be expected at the central and eastern IL TAF sites for the next 24 hours. A nearly stationary frontal boundary from northeast MO along the MS River near STL into extreme southern Il and northern KY was providing the focus for showers and t-storms in the southern third of IL this evening. A weak upper level low in southeast Illinois will continue to result in mainly high clouds in east central IL this evening and during the overnight hours. There could be a very brief period of MVFR visibility in eastern IL around daybreak, due to very light winds and lingering low level moisture, but not enough areal extent or confidence to put into the KCMI TAF at this point. During the day Friday, very little change in the overall synoptic weather pattern is anticipated, except for the upper low which will drift toward west central IN. Due to the proximity of this upper level system will keep mainly high clouds in the TAFs, along with a light ENE wind. && .ILX WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
