Scattered lightning storms will initially develop near the coast, around to just after 12 pm, as the east coast sea breeze initially forms and begins to move inland. Storm coverage will then increase along and inland of the sea breeze, with storms increasing in intensity from mid afternoon through sunset as sea breeze and storm outflow boundaries collide across the area. Storm motion will be slow and erratic, with a more east to northeast motion expected north of Okeechobee County and the Treasure Coast. Some stronger storms are expected, with the main threats including frequent to excessive lightning strikes, gusty winds up to 45 to 55 mph, small coin-size hail, and locally heavy rainfall. .FLOOD IMPACT... Slower storm motion will continue to allow any stronger storms to produce localized heavy rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches in a short period of time, especially north of the Treasure Coast and across the interior of east central Florida. .MARINE THUNDERSTORM GUST IMPACT... Wind gusts in excess of 35 knots will be possible this afternoon in and close to lightning storms, mainly over the inland lakes. However, a few storms may also shift back toward the coast and just offshore, mainly north of Sebastian Inlet during the afternoon and early evening hours. .RIVER FLOOD IMPACT... The water level along the Little Wekiva River near Altamonte Springs is forecast to remain near bankfull today. However, any additional heavy rainfall in the basin this afternoon and later this week may lead to further rises toward flood stage. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY. Above normal chances for showers and lightning storms expected each afternoon through late week and into the weekend, especially across the interior. Biggest threats will be frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes, gusty winds, and torrential downpours. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation may be needed. Please relay any information about severe weather to the NWS while following all local, state, and CDC guidelines. $$ Negron/Weitlich
