753 FNUS56 KOTX 052146 FWFOTX Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern Washington and North Idaho National Weather Service Spokane WA 246 PM PDT Wed Aug 5 2020 ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING FOR STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY FOR FIRE ZONES 673, 677, 684... .DISCUSSION... Winds will pick up in the lee of the Cascades and Okanogan Valley this afternoon and evening with gusts up to 25 mph. There is a threat of elevated nocturnal thunderstorms overnight moving up central and eastern WA. If these storms develop they will likely have lightning, gusty winds and little to no precipitation. A strong cold moves over the Cascades Thursday. The main concern with this front will be strong winds, especially in the lee of the Cascades and Columbia Basin. The front will also bring a threat for showers and small chance for thunderstorms mainly for the eastern districts and North Idaho. Confidence is low regarding amount of lightning strikes but anticipating isolated coverage at best. Cooler than normal temperatures on Friday rebound back to normal over the weekend with breezy, dry conditions. *************************************************************** Forecasts for 20 foot wind speeds (valleys and ridge tops) are 10 minute averages reflecting RAWS wind. *************************************************************** WAZ676-061400- East Washington South Central Cascade Valleys (Zone 676)- Including the cities of Kittitas Valley and Naches River Valley 246 PM PDT Wed Aug 5 2020 ...Wind advisory Thursday... .Tonight... * Sky/Weather.........Becoming partly cloudy. * LAL.................1. * Min Temperature.....58-68. * 24 hr Trend........3-6 degrees warmer. * Max Humidity........55-70 percent. * 24 hr Trend........5 to 10 percent drier. * Humidity Recovery...Fair. * 20-foot winds.......Northwest 8 to 19 mph with gusts to around 20 mph.
