Eastern Greenville County in Upstate South Carolina... * Until 1030 AM EDT Wednesday. * At 429 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that a band of training showers, producing rainfall rates of 1-3 inches per hour, is oriented from southwest to northeast along an axis from Anderson, to Welcome, Berea, downtown Greenville, and Taylors. Storm-total rainfall of up to 1.5 inches has already been observed over the past 60 minutes, but an additional 1-2 inches of rainfall is possible over the next 1-2 hours. This will likely cause Minor flooding of flood-prone and poorly draining areas, including and especially around Greenville. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution on wet roadways and avoid all flooded areas. * The primary concern over the next 1-2 hours is from downtown Greenville west to the Saluda River, especially along the Reedy River which remains elevated due to earlier heavy rain. Rapid rises to above Action/Advisory Stage is likely over the next few hours. Therefore, additional flooding of the Swamp Rabbit Trail and adjacent areas is likely through the early morning hours. Additional flooding concerns may develop further east towards Greer, Mauldin, and Five Forks, including along Brushy Creek and Gilder Creek if the band of heavy rainfall shifts east over the next several hours. * This heavy rainfall is occurring on saturated soils due to heavy rainfall on Monday. If this rainfall persists, more serious flash flooding may occur and a Flash Flood Warning may be issued. Homes and businesses near small streams are urged to be prepared to seek higher ground. * Some locations that may experience flooding include... Greenville Downtown, Greenville Eastside, West Greenville, Greer, Mauldin, Taylors, Simpsonville, Berea, Five Forks and Welcome. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in urban areas, streets and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Rapid rises on small creeks and streams will also occur, possibly flooding low water crossings and farmland. Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Turn around, dont drown. If heavy rainfall continues, the advisory may be upgraded to a Flash Flood Warning. People in flood prone areas, especially along creeks and small streams, should prepare to move to higher ground quickly if a Flash Flood Warning is issued. && LAT...LON 3466 8247 3468 8246 3471 8247 3471 8246 3473 8247 3478 8245 3482 8249 3483 8248 3483 8249 3489 8250 3506 8242 3499 8233 3495 8222 3485 8223 3480 8216 3480 8217 3478 8215 3464 8245 $$ JMP
