610 FXUS61 KBTV 191901 AFDBTV Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Burlington VT 301 PM EDT Tue May 19 2020 .SYNOPSIS... The stretch of nice weather continues across the North Country as high pressure remains anchored across eastern Canada. We are expecting plenty of sunshine the next couple of days with daytime high temperatures in the mid 60s to mid 70s and lows generally in the upper 30s to near 50 degrees depending upon your location. A gradual warming trend continues through Friday, with a few spots reaching 80 degrees possible, before slightly cooler air arrives for the weekend, along with some more clouds. && .NEAR TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/... As of 252 PM EDT Tuesday...Water vapor shows some high lvl moisture streaming acrs our cwa, which is producing some wispy cirrus clouds this aftn. These clouds should have minimal impact on temps tonight with light winds and dry air providing ideal radiational cooling conditions. Lows generally very similar to last night, except slightly cooler along western slopes with less of an easterly wind component. Lows mainly in the mid/upper 30s to mid/upper 40s with some patchy frost dacks/NEK. Little change anticipated for Weds, as progged 925mb to 850mb warm another 1 to 3 degrees, supporting highs upper 60s to mid 70s. Once again lake breezy develops with cooler readings near Lake Champlain associated with onshore flow. Weds night high pres and very dry air continues with lows upper 30s to lower 50s, along with light trrn driven winds. && .SHORT TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/... As of 252 PM EDT Tuesday...Short and to the point...no changes in todays NWP guidance for the end of the work week with surface high pressure anchored off the eastern seaboard and an upper ridge building over the Great Lakes and Northeast. Clear/sunny skies, light southerly winds and seasonal temperatures will be the rule with highs in the low/mid 70s Thursday, mid 70s to low 80s Friday, and lows mainly in the 40s to locally 50s in the Champlain Valley. && .LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/... As of 252 PM EDT Tuesday...Heading into the weekend, not seeing any big changes in today's guidance either. Still some differences with the handling of upper low pressure over the Tennessee Valley Thursday and where that tracks Friday/Saturday, but consensus remains south of the region keeping the forecast area dry through Saturday. A weak shortwave trough with origins in the lee of the Rockies tries to ride over the ridge Sunday, but will encounter a very dry airmass, so slight chance PoPs at best with that. Ridge gets re-established over the Northeast Monday, then our first potential rainfall in over a week approaches Tuesday with a northern stream trough looking to break down the ridge. We'll see. Temps through the period remain above normal with highs mid/upper 70s and lows mid 40s to mid 50s. && .AVIATION /19Z TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/... Through 18Z Wednesday...1035mb high pres located over eastern Canada will provide our taf sites with VFR conditions the next 24 hours. Winds will be north/northeast at 4 to 8 knots this aftn with localized gusts up to 15 knots at MSS, before becoming light trrn driven overnight. Outlook... Wednesday Night: VFR. NO SIG WX.
