Scattered showers and isolated lighting storms ahead of an approaching weak cold front will move quickly eastward up to 40 to 50 mph across east central Florida and offshore tonight. These showers and storms should begin to move into Lake and Volusia counties near to just after sunset and continue to move through areas farther south across east central Florida from late evening into the overnight hours. While the potential of lightning development with this activity remains low, any storm that develops will have the potential to produce strong wind gusts up to 45 to 50 mph. We also cannot rule out a storm or two producing stronger winds above 50 to 55 mph. .RIP CURRENT IMPACT... A moderate risk of rip currents will exist along the beaches of east central Florida today. The threat today will be highest after 5 PM this afternoon due to tidal effects. .MARINE THUNDERSTORM GUST IMPACT... While threat of thunderstorms remains low, any isolated to scattered showers that develop and move quickly eastward across east central Florida and offshore into tonight will have the potential to produce wind gusts around 35 knots. .WIND AND SEA IMPACT... South to southwest winds will increase through this evening to 15 to 20 knots offshore, and then continue to strengthen to 20 to 25 knots tonight as they veer to the west. Occasional gusts to gale force will also be possible offshore into tonight, with seas building up to 6 to 7 feet. A Small Craft Advisory goes into effect across the entire coastal waters this evening, continuing through tonight for these rapidly deteriorating boating conditions. .FIRE WEATHER IMPACT... The hot and dry pattern combined with gusty southwest winds this afternoon will lead to a high danger for wildfire spread today. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY. The fire danger will remain high, especially across the interior through the remainder of the week, as a drier airmass behind a weak cold front generates low relative humidity values west of I-95 each afternoon. Poor to hazardous boating conditions expected to continue across the coastal waters from mid to late week. Potentially dangerous large swells could move into the local waters this weekend. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation will not be needed this afternoon and tonight. $$ Rodriguez
