Dry and chilly conditions today as high pressure to our north dominates. As the high drifts into northern New England tonight, low pressure will approach from the south and bring a return of rain to the area. Some wintry precipitation will be possible over the higher elevations of the Allegheny and Catoctin Mountains, but with little to no accumulation expected. A raw day is in store for Monday as widespread rain overtakes the region and temperatures run below normal for the latter half of March. Periods of moderate rain will be possible Monday morning as coastal low pressure redevelops to our southeast. In the wake of the departing low, high pressure returns Monday night and through the day on Tuesday with dry weather and near normal temperatures. Low pressure will impact the region once again Tuesday night and Wednesday, resulting in our next shot of area wide rainfall. $$
