126 FXUS63 KDMX 130401 AFDDMX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Des Moines IA 1101 PM CDT Thu Mar 12 2020 ...Updated for 06z Aviation Discussion... .DISCUSSION.../Tonight through Thursday/ Issued at 238 PM CDT Thu Mar 12 2020 Tonight into Saturday...CAA to continue tonight before relaxing early Friday morning as surface ridging builds into the state. Expect a dry and cool day with light winds on Friday and with this dry air, lowered pops and delayed the onset of precipitation to the southwest and south-central portion of the forecast area until Friday evening. Confidence is growing in the dry air remaining dominant and cutting back any snow accumulation potential in the south. Certainly a high-pop/low QPF scenario across southern Iowa late Friday night into Saturday and have roughly an inch or less going over the west to south. The light snow looks to dissipate fairly quickly late Saturday morning and into the afternoon hours across the south. Sunday through Wednesday...big strong high pressure system looks to persist Sunday into Monday and while a clipper system is progged to move across the Northern Plains and upper Great Lakes late Monday, the dry air and strong subsidence should keep the forecast dry for much of Monday into Monday evening. The CWA looks to become split between the aforementioned clipper to the north and an weak shortwave passing through the Missouri Valley. Kept mention of low chance pops Monday night across the far north and far south but even with these pops, have low confidence with seeing much precipitation. Another large surface high pressure system rolls into the region and looks to dominate the weather pattern through late in the week and trended drier with any pops. && .AVIATION.../For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Friday night/ Issued at 1100 PM CDT Thu Mar 12 2020 VFR conditions at all sites throughout TAF period.
