A few flurries fell across much of the state, with a light dusting of snow piling up near the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. With the clouds sticking around for much of the day, temperatures were generally in the upper 20s to mid 30s across the state. Far southern Iowa made it into the 40s. Normal highs for this time of year are in the mid 30s to low 40s, placing temperatures for yesterday around 5 or so degrees below normal. Winds were from the north to northwest at around 10 to 15 mph. To start off the weekend, by 1 am Saturday, temperatures fell to the mid teens across northern Iowa, to the mid 20s across southern Iowa. Skies had cleared, and winds were light and variable. Much, much warmer air will be arriving to the state today as highs should make it into the low to mid 60s from central to southern Iowa, and the 40s to 50s across the northern portion of the state. Under sunny skies, winds should be from the south to southwest at around 10 to 15 mph. Sunday looks to be warm as well, with temperatures being about the same as they were Saturday... though there will be more cloud cover on Sunday.
