338 FXUS62 KJAX 272309 AFDJAX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Jacksonville FL 608 PM EST Thu Feb 27 2020 .AVIATION [Through 0000z Saturday] Clear skies, with diminishing NW winds this evening, and 8-12kt W winds Friday. && .PREVIOUS DISCUSSION [348 PM EST]... .Near Term.../through Tonight/... High pressure will build from the west through Tonight, with cold advection continuing. Clear skies are expected. The combination of cold advection, and clear skies will result in an unseasonably cold night. There is enough of a pressure gradient though to keep winds from going completely calm. This light wind could be enough to hold temperatures up somewhat, and limit frost potential. Still expecting readings around freezing inland though, with lowest readings likely in the Suwannee valley which will be more under the ridge. Freeze warnings go into affect with this forecast, in current watch zones. && .Short Term.../Friday through Monday/... The high pressure ridge will sink to the south Friday, as another cold front approaches from the north. This front will move southeast across the region Friday night, with yet another cold front passing through Saturday afternoon, producing scattered cloud cover. Each of these boundaries will reinforce the cool airmass, but these frontal passages are expected to be dry. High pressure will build overhead Saturday night through Sunday. The high will build to the east on Monday. As the high builds more to the east Monday, moisture and clouds will increase on southerly flow. Monday is expected to remain dry. Temperatures will trend below normal through Sunday, with Saturday night being the coldest night during this period, as the high builds overhead. While temperatures are not forecast to reach freezing Saturday night, frost potential will be exist due to suspected near calm winds. Readings will return to near normal levels for Monday. && .Long Term.../Monday night through Thursday/... The high will remain to the east through Tuesday night, continuing the increasingly moist southerly flow. A cold front will approach from the west Tuesday night, then sweep east across the area Wednesday into Wednesday night. Depending in part on whether the line ultimately passes during the day or night, a strong line of storms may accompany this frontal boundary. Rain fall chances will begin over western counties Tuesday night, with chances across the area Wednesday into Wednesday night. High pressure will then build from the west northwest Thursday. Temperatures will trend above normal through Wednesday, then back closer to normal for Thursday. && .Marine... High pressure will build across region from the west through Tonight. The ridge will move south Friday, with another cold front moving through Friday night, and yet another front Saturday. High pressure will build overhead Saturday night through Sunday. This high will build to the east Sunday night through Tuesday. Rip Currents...Low Risk through Friday && .Fire Weather...
