119 FXUS65 KFGZ 272208 AFDFGZ Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 308 PM MST Mon Jan 27 2020 .SYNOPSIS...Dry weather returns tonight through Wednesday morning. Another chance of showers arrives Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. Expect dry weather but brisk northeast winds Thursday. A warming trend will begin on Friday and continue into the weekend. && .DISCUSSION...A few lingering showers remain near the White Mountain Region this afternoon. Expect those to end over the next couple of hours as the low continues to move out over New Mexico with skies clearing. Behind this exiting system, expect dry conditions for Tuesday. Our next chance for weather will arrive on Wednesday as a trough moves in from the northwest. Snow levels will be around 5500-6000 feet with this system with light accumulations under an inch except for the Kaibab Plateau, Chuska Mountains, and White Mountain Region where amounts around 2-4 inches will be possible. This system has been trending wetter in the last 24 hours so these amounts are still uncertain. Stay tuned for any updated amounts! We still anticipate strong north to north northeasterly flow to develop Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Favored areas along and south of the high terrian will experience some gusty conditions overnight into Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon and evening, winds will decrease but remain breezy through Friday morning. Friday into the weekend, high pressure will build in across the desert southwest bring quiet weather with warming temperatures each day. After the weekend, a trend to more active wather will be possible with some long range models hinting at a much wetter and colder pattern. && .AVIATION...For the 00Z package..VFR conditions will prevail across northern Arizona over the next 24 hrs. West to northwest winds 10-15 kts gusting 20-25KTS will develop through the day until around 02Z. Dry conditions will return Tuesday with lighter winds.
