CHATHAM COUNTIES UNTIL 215 AM EST...

At 1252 AM EST, Doppler radar was tracking an area of showers and 
thunderstorms mainly over Stanly and Montgomery Counties, moving 
northeast at 40 mph. Locally heavy rain, with rainfall rates in 
excess of a half inch per hour will result in rises on area stream 
and creeks and some accumulation of water on roadways.

Locations impacted include...
High Point, Asheboro, Albemarle, Randleman, Troy, Siler City, Badin
Lake, North Carolina Zoo, Thomasville and Biscoe.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Locally heavy rain will quickly reduce visibility and result in the 
accumulation of water on roadways, standing water in low lying 
areas, and minor flooding of creeks, streams, and areas of poor 
drainage. Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution to 
avoid hydroplaning, especially in urban areas where prolonged heavy 
rain can quickly lead to flooding.
