The persistent storm system over the Upper Great Lakes will push 
east today...and this will lead to widespread rain and wet snow 
showers over our region. While some areas could pick up an inch or 
two of snow by evening...especially over the Southern Tier...the 
main event will come tonight and New Years day when significant 
accumulations of lake effect snow will target parts of the Southern 
Tier and particularly the Tug Hill plateau east of Lake Ontario. Our 
lone fair weather day of the week can then be expected on Thursday.
