A band of rain coming out of southern Wisconsin tonight will move into west central Wisconsin shortly after midnight and move into eastern Minnesota late tonight. It will transition from rain to snow as it moves west across western Wisconsin, with mostly snow expected on Monday, that may mix with rain at times in west central Wisconsin during the day on Monday. Precipitation will quickly diminish between 8 pm and midnight Monday night. The worst conditions with falling snow are expected over eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin Monday afternoon into early Monday evening, with snow having the greatest impact on the Monday evening commute. Snow accumulation will range from 3 to 6 inches, generally along and east of I-35, with amounts gradually tapering down to around an inch near the South Dakota border. Northwest winds will increase late tonight and continue into Monday night with gusts of 35 to 40 mph possible from west central into south central Minnesota. This will cause areas of blowing snow.
