495 FXUS64 KLCH 250330 AFDLCH Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Lake Charles LA 930 PM CST Tue Dec 24 2019 .DISCUSSION... Sfc obs along with satellite/88D imagery indicate inherited grids/zones are in good shape as is. Latest short-term guidance corroborates as well. Quick trip outside shows ground fog already forming under excellent radiating conditions so patchy fog development already being carried for much of the forecast area looks fine too. Therefore, no update is planned for this evening. Merry Christmas to all...and to all, a good night. 25 && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 533 PM CST Tue Dec 24 2019/ AVIATION... VFR conditions will prevail through this evening with light/variable winds and clear skies. This will support radiative cooling and the potential for MVFR fog to develop after 06Z across much of the area. The one complicating factor will be MVFR ceilings which are forecast to move inland from east to west after 09Z and could limit fog development. MVFR ceilings will gradually lift during the day tomorrow as light/variable winds in the morning shift to southerly during the afternoon. PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 234 PM CST Tue Dec 24 2019/ DISCUSSION... Ridging currently over the area making for a nice afternoon. This will continue for the next few days. However fog is looking more likely overnight into Wednesday morning. Heights will begin to fall as a trof digs into the western U.S. In response return flow will set up by Thursday with possible showers spreading inland in the surge of moisture. With this fog will continue to be possible each night. The front has slowed in the guidance from yesterday but best chances for showers and thunderstorms still remains this coming weekend as the front passes. Until the front passes temperatures will be well above normal. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
