.DISCUSSION...
Swift westerly flow aloft is in place today with high winds
currently being reported at the Guadalupe Bowl and Guadalupe Pass
in the Guadalupe Mountains. Temperatures are also above normal, 
despite increasing high clouds, courtesy of a surface lee trough 
and low level thermal ridging. The High Wind Warning will remain 
in effect until 2 am MST tonight for the Guadalupe and Delaware 
Mountains. 

A significant change will take place by tomorrow due to the 
approach of a southern stream upper level system currently 
moving onshore across central California. Rain chances will
increase dramatically areawide as decent large scale lift 
rapidly develops as the upper jet moves over the area ahead of 
the system. High temperatures will also get knocked back to near 
normal Monday as heights decrease and the column cools. 

Precipitation chances will remain high Monday night areawide and 
as the upper system tracks into west Texas, the rain will mix 
with and or change to snow late Monday night and Tuesday morning 
across the Guadalupe Mountains, portions of the southeast New
Mexico Plains and the northern Permian Basin. Guidance continues
to suggest that relatively warm surface temperatures, ground 
temperatures will generally limit snowfall from a trace to up to 
an inch of snowfall. 

Precipitation chances should end later Tuesday with well below 
normal temperatures expected behind this system through Thursday. 
A weaker southern stream upper level system will pass by Thursday 
but it appears moisture will be lacking. 

Next weekend looks dry with near to above normal temperatures 
with westerly flow aloft forecast to be in place.
