388 FXUS66 KOTX 061906 AFDOTX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Spokane WA 1106 AM PST Fri Dec 6 2019 .SYNOPSIS... Another cloudy and damp day is on tap for today. The next round of widespread precipitation is expected tonight and Saturday. Light to moderate snow accumulations are expected in the mountains with rain in the valleys. Drier weather is expected Monday and Tuesday followed by chances for rain and snow Wednesday and Thursday. && .DISCUSSION... Only minor updates to the morning forecast package today. Weak high pressure is currently over the region with high clouds streaming through the ridge. Meanwhile low clouds and fog developed again overnight. The low clouds and fog have been dissipating through the morning. The areas around Spokane and up in some of the northern valleys are slow to mix. Areas in the fog/clouds will have a hard time warming up today and highs were cooled off slightly for those areas. Otherwise we are looking at the deep low pressure system off the coast. It looks like Saturday into Sunday will be wet with valley rain and mountain snow. Tobin && .AVIATION... 18Z TAFS: Another morning with a saturated boundary layer and widespread fog/stratus. Conditions have improved across the region this morning, at least for most areas. The KGEG/KSFF and north into the northern mountain valleys, including KDEW are still having a tough time mixing out. Expectations are that won't happen until 21-22z. next we look at the incoming storm system for tonight ans Saturday which will introduce much deeper moisture into the region. Expect lowering cigs after 06z or so and precipitaiton beginning 08-10z across the western zones and then pushing across the area through the morning. Right now all precipitation is expected to be as -ra, however short periods of light -fzra will be possible at KEAT/KMWH between 09-15z. Tobin && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
