.SHORT TERM...  (Through Late Thursday Afternoon)

Surface ridge will continue to build over the region today with 
plenty of sunshine and west winds between 5 and 10 mph. So will see 
temperatures warm up into the upper 40s to mid 50s.

By tonight, surface ridge will be moving off to the east with light 
and variable winds and temperatures only dropping into the low to 
mid 30s, about 5 to 10 degrees above normal.

In the meantime, closed surface low and associated upper level 
shortwave in southern stream still progged to slide southeast 
through region on Thursday. Timing is a bit slower, so rain chances 
will stay over southwestern MO during the day Thursday with just 
increasing mid and high clouds. Despite this, temperatures will warm 
up into the 50s, about 10 degrees above normal.

.LONG TERM...  (Thursday Night through Tuesday)

Latest model runs keep main energy and moisture associated with 
system south of MO/AR border Thursday night, but have shifted 
precipitation shield a bit further north. Confidence is low that the 
rain will make it any much further than I-70 corridor at this time. 

Rain will taper off early Friday morning as surface ridge builds
back in. Some weak CAA on back side of system, so highs will be a
bit below normal in the 40s.

Beyond that, temperatures moderate through the weekend and into 
early next week. The next chance for rain will be Sunday afternoon 
through Monday night.

VFR conditions stay in place through the period, given high 
pressure building from the west. Winds are slowly turning more 
westerly, and will be out of the west-northwest tomorrow. Winds 
through the day Wednesday will become calmer, and start turning to
the southwest in the evening.
