662 FXUS65 KFGZ 302159 AFDFGZ Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 259 PM MST Sat Nov 30 2019 .SYNOPSIS...Weather conditions will improve today as the current storm system exits the state. High temperatures will remain quite chilly today but gradually warm to near normal by Tuesday. Dry conditions will prevail until Wednesday and Thursday when yet another Pacific storm will deliver breezy and cold conditions along with rain and snow showers. && .DISCUSSION...Mostly sunny skies are being observed across the state this afternoon. A cold air mass in overhead in the wake of the winter storm system is resulting in quite cold temperatures in the 30s to low 40s across most of northern Arizona. Expect quiet weather the remainder of the weekend as weak high pressure migrates through the Southwest. High level clouds will increase tonight and persist through Sunday. These will help to keep overnight low temperatures from bottoming out, though they will still dip into the teens to low 20s. Expect daytime temperatures to warm 5 to 10 degrees on Sunday. Another Pacific low pressure system will position itself off the California coast early next week keeping Arizona under a mild west to southwest flow. Expect periods of high clouds leading to mostly cloudy skies Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will warm to above average Monday and Tuesday. The Pacific low will finally move east and across Arizona on Wednesday and Wednesday night bringing another round of rain and snow showers. This system looks weaker than the last with less precipitation and higher snow levels. Snow looks most likely for areas above 6,000 ft with mostly rain below. Mild weather looks to return for the end of next week. && .AVIATION...For the 00Z package...Mostly VFR conditions are expected through the TAF period. Light west surface winds will become east to northeast overnight. Localized 15 knot wind gusts are possible for areas southwest and downslope of higher terrain features tonight. Aviation discussion not updated for TAF amendments. && .FIRE WEATHER...Winds will turn easterly Sunday with temperatures warming about ten degrees. Ventilation will be poor Sunday and Monday with weak transport winds and low mixing heights. Tuesday through Thursday...The warming trend with dry and fair weather will last through Tuesday. Wednesday will see a return of showers across the area with southwest winds. Coverage of showers will decrease by Thursday morning. Attention, the National Weather Service in Flagstaff will begin our winter season once a day (morning) issuance of the Fire Weather Zone forecast product starting on Sunday, December 1st, 2019.
