790 FXUS66 KOTX 241908 AFDOTX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Spokane WA 1108 AM PST Sun Nov 24 2019 .SYNOPSIS... A series of weather disturbances will move through the Inland Northwest today through Tuesday bringing mountain snow and possibly low elevation snow, which could impact travel. By mid week, blustery northerly winds and much colder temperatures arrive with drier weather for the holiday weekend. && .DISCUSSION... Made a few updates to the forecast this morning based on clearing skies with gusty winds and persistant stratus and fog in the Columbia Basin and valleys of northeast WA. Also some exposed locations are warming faster than expected due to the wind. /rfox. && .AVIATION... 18Z TAFS: Stubborn stratus and fog lifting from the Columbia Basin, especially near KMWH. West-southwest breezes will continue for the afternoon with local gusts near 20kt. This should keep the boundary layer mixed with VFR conditions through the afternoon and evening. The exception being across the northern valleys from KOMK to Colville and KSZT where IFR/MVFR cigs may continue into the afternoon. Snow showers will continue near the Cascade crest and north Idaho with mtns obscured. Winds settle overnight while next weather disturbance ushers in mid and high clouds. There is a chance of light snow showers developing by Monday morning along with patchy fog that could limit conditions down to MVFR or lower, although confidence on location is low. /rfox. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
