Temperatures will fall slightly for the early part of the week with the next opportunity for precipitation Thursday or Friday. && .SHORT TERM...Tonight through Monday. A band of cirrus moving through the northwestern parts of the state will signal a subtle change transitioning into Sunday and Monday. As the ridge becomes less amplified over the region, northwest flow will commence and usher in a subtle short wave that will cool temperatures down a few degrees for Sunday and Monday. The change in temperature is the main impact with dry conditions persisting along with relatively light winds. Mid and upper-level cloud cover will peak Sunday before clearing again Monday as yet another ridge amplifies over the West Coast. .LONG TERM...Tuesday through Saturday. Another strong ridge will become established over the region Tuesday and Wednesday bringing mild temperatures, light winds and dry conditions into the state. A more southwest flow aloft will bring in some Pacific moisture and cloud cover Wednesday but no precip is expected. Models are indicating a more active wave pattern coming up for late next week perhaps bringing opportunities for cooler temperatures along with rain and snow back into the forecast but for now nothing noteworthy is expected.
