407 FXUS65 KSLC 120307 AFDSLC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Salt Lake City UT 907 PM MDT Fri Oct 11 2019 .SYNOPSIS...High pressure aloft building into the region from the west this weekend will maintain dry conditions and generate a gradual warming trend heading into early next week. && .DISCUSSION...The upper ridge currently over the western Great Basin will shift east into Utah this weekend. Warming temperatures aloft associated with the ridge will bring a nice warming trend to the higher elevations. Valley locations will also see an upward climb in temps, with diurnal temperature swings likely to increase due to clear skies and the rather dry air mass already in place. The upper trough advancing on to the west coast late Sunday will exhibit a substantial split as it crosses the Great Basin Monday. Weak dynamic support from the splitting trough along with a still very dry air mass will limit any clouds to the mid/high levels, with no chance for any precip. Ridging will return Tuesday through early Wednesday, followed by a transition toward a more active pattern by late in the week. && .AVIATION...Stable high pressure across northern Utah will maintain VFR conditions under clear skies throughout the current TAF period. Light southeast winds will develop around 04z, with these winds turning back to the northwest early Saturday afternoon. && .SLC WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... UT...None.
