331 WWUS43 KUNR 080905 WSWUNR URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Rapid City SD 305 AM MDT Tue Oct 8 2019 ...EARLY SEASON WINTER STORM LIKELY ACROSS THE AREA... .A strong cold front and upper level system will cross the region midweek, bringing unseasonably cold temperatures, snowfall, and gusty winds to much of the area. After a warm day today, the cold front will move through late tonight into Wednesday morning, with steady or slowly falling temperatures on Wednesday. Precipitation will develop across northeast Wyoming and far northwest South Dakota by Wednesday afternoon, slowly shifting east into western South Dakota Wednesday evening. Precipitation will change over to all snow by late Wednesday evening and could become heavy at times into Thursday, especially across the Black Hills area and the plains to the north and east. Lingering snowfall is likely Thursday night, especially for the Black Hills and areas to the east. Gusty northerly winds will produce areas of blowing snow, especially across the plains. There is still uncertainty on the exact track and timing of the system at this time, but there is potential for 6 or more inches of snowfall across much of the watch area. Monitor NOAA Weather Radio or your local media for the latest updates on this storm.
