785 FXUS64 KSJT 052010 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 310 PM CDT Sat Oct 5 2019 .SHORT TERM... (Tonight and Sunday) ...A Cold Front and Possible Rain... A cold front will move into West Central Texas tomorrow and bring the potential for rain, along with cooler temperatures, for mainly the Big Country. Meanwhile, surface winds, from the south tonight, will help produce overnight lows well above usual early October lows. Short-term models bring the front to our Interstate 20 corridor tomorrow afternoon. Current timing has surface winds from the north, along and north of our Interstate 20 corridor, around 3 PM CDT Sunday. Along and ahead of the front, showers and thunderstorms may develop. .LONG TERM... (Sunday Night through Saturday) ...Possible Rain and Finally Turning Cooler... The potential for rain will continue into Sunday night, as this first cold front moves farther south. Then, dry conditions will dominate through mid week, before another cold front late week brings another shot of cold air, along with the potential for more rain. The GFS 500mb height ensemble data this forecast cycle shows members remain in fairly good agreement, through the end of this week. As an upper trough deepens, over the northwestern CONUS, another surge of cold air moves toward the south, across the Central and Southern Plains. By the start of next weekend, temperatures should be in line with early October temperatures, and hopefully much of West Central Texas will have received beneficial rain. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
