582 FXUS64 KHUN 302343 AFDHUN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Huntsville AL 643 PM CDT Mon Sep 30 2019 .UPDATE... For 00Z TAFS. && .NEAR TERM...(Rest of today) Issued at 135 PM CDT Mon Sep 30 2019 Temperatures expected to rise into the upper 90s this afternoon under mostly clear skies. Both climate sites have already reached or set new daily records. Diurnally driven Cu field will diminish after sunset with the loss of daytime heating. Biggest change from previous forecast is the removal of afternoon rain chances across far northeast AL. Temperatures remain mild overnight only dropping down into the upper 60s to lower 70s. .SHORT TERM...(Tuesday through Wednesday) Issued at 135 PM CDT Mon Sep 30 2019 Hot and dry again Tuesday and Wednesday as high pressure over the southeast CONUS persists. Current afternoon high temperature forecast for both days is in the upper 90s across the Tennessee Valley, which would be new daily records temps at both MSL and HSV. In fact it will be close to breaking all time October records, 97 at MSL in 1903 and 96 at HSV in 1911. .LONG TERM...(Wednesday night through Sunday) Issued at 135 PM CDT Mon Sep 30 2019 Hot and dry once again on Thursday with afternoon highs in mid 90s. A decaying cold front drops down from the northwest Thursday night which will cool temps down in the lower to mid 80s by the end of the week and into the weekend. Unfortunately, not expecting any rain with the frontal passage. Biggest impact in the extended period is a fire weather concern during the day Friday. Winds in the afternoon are expected to gust between 15 and 20 mph and combined with recent drought conditions any fire will have the potential to expand rapidly. Weak troughing over the area on Sunday may result in some afternoon rain chances, but given recent dry pattern, kept only slight chance pops. Model guidance showing some agreement on a more developed system for the start of next week, which may provide the best chance of rain for the area in the last couple of weeks. && .AVIATION...(For the 00Z TAFS through 00Z Tuesday evening) Issued at 643 PM CDT Mon Sep 30 2019 High pressure at the surface and aloft will control the weather situation into Tue.
