The clouds will clear this evening with abundant crisp skies, and more cool sunshine filled days Monday and Tuesday. The trough will lift away from the area mid through late week, resulting in warming conditions as a weak offshore and drying wind flow takes hold. && .DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE... SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES... A cool and crisp day today across the region with temperatures about 5-10 degrees below normal with the deep trough moving across the SW. Rainfall early this morning ending before daybreak with additional amounts under an inch along the foothills, and around one-tenth inch or less in the valleys. Gusty winds continue especially through the mountains and deserts, but below advisory threshold. A report of peak wind gusts was issued this morning if you want to take a look at some of those windy spots. The troughy pattern will persist through Tuesday across the SW with below normal temperatures continuing around the area. Gusty diurnal winds each afternoon and evening will be noted through the mountains and along the desert slopes, but not likely to reach wind advisory thresholds. Looking to Wednesday major pattern shifts across the west with a building high pressure ridge. Temperatures will rebound Wednesday through next weekend to near normal to slightly above normal temperatures. Weak offshore flow at times will boost temperatures west of the mountains through next weekend, although we're not seeing any threat of major offshore wind events at this time. Persistent East Pac ridging may continue beyond next weekend. && .AVIATION... 292015Z...Coasts/Valleys...SCT to locally BKN low clouds, with variable bases from 2500-4500 ft MSL and tops to 6000 ft MSL through this afternoon. Low probability of cig/vis impacts at TAF sites. FEW- SCT low clouds are possible tonight, with slightly lower tops and bases. VIS of 3-5 SM BR is expected where low clouds near higher terrain. Mountains/Deserts...Mostly clear with unrestricted vis. West winds gusting to 30 kt will continue along desert mountain slopes into adjacent deserts this afternoon, with weak UDDFS and local LLWS over and east of the mtns at times. && .MARINE... West northwest winds gusting to 20 kt are possible at times over portions of the outer coastal waters near San Clemente island through Monday night.
