907 FXUS64 KMAF 180509 AFDMAF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 1209 AM CDT Wed Sep 18 2019 .DISCUSSION... See 06Z aviation discussion below. && .AVIATION... VFR conditions and light southeast winds will continue. && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 225 PM CDT Tue Sep 17 2019/ DISCUSSION... The very quiet weather pattern we've seen the last few days will become more active as we head toward the end of this week. Broad upper troughing to our west will slowly transition east over the coming days helping to enhance lift across the area. Isolated showers and storms over the higher terrain today will become more scattered and spread east by midweek. A more well-defined shortwave will deepen the upper trough by late week. This will provide slightly more lift over the region to help enhance thunderstorms chances late Friday into Saturday. Temperatures will remain well above normal into the foreseeable future as any fall cold fronts stay well to our north. Long range models don't even hint at any fronts through the end of the month. This means we will continue to see temperatures into the low to mid 90's every day will lows in the 60's and 70's. Models are beginning to hint at a large storm system developing to our west sometime next week. There is much disagreement currently, but it appears someone between CA and W TX could see beneficial rain if not a flooding potential with this storm. Stay tuned and cross your fingers that we might see some rain soon! && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
