287 FXUS64 KHUN 081104 AFDHUN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Huntsville AL 604 AM CDT Sun Sep 8 2019 .UPDATE... For 12Z TAFS. && .NEAR TERM...(Today) Issued at 315 AM CDT Sun Sep 8 2019 Quiet weather early this morning with high pressure in control across the region. Other than some light river valley fog in the Paint Rock and Flint basins, a clear sky is prevailing, allowing temperatures to drop into the upper 50s to lower 60s by daybreak. A quick recovery is expected, however, as strong subsidence from the ridge will result in a clear sky and dry conditions as temperatures soar into the low to mid 90s by this afternoon. Very limited cloud cover will result in a beautiful, but hot early September day once again. .SHORT TERM...(Tonight through Tuesday) Issued at 315 AM CDT Sun Sep 8 2019 The center of the upper-ridge will begin to shift east into the Tennessee Valley early this week as it becomes centered over Northern Alabama. This pattern will continue to favor unseasonably hot temperatures and mainly dry conditions. With this 594 dm ridge amplifying over the area, we'll continue to see an uptick in temperatures with highs peaking in the mid to upper 90s both days. In fact, given the very dry soil and plenty of insolation, a few locations may reach the 100 degree mark. Strong subsidence should significantly limit the potential of diurnal convection on Monday. However, with the with the mean surface flow veering to the S/SW by Tuesday, expect enough moisture to creep back into the area to generate a few isolated showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday. .LONG TERM...(Tuesday night through Saturday) Issued at 315 AM CDT Sun Sep 8 2019 The upper ridge will continue to remain the dominant weather feature across the Tennessee Valley region throughout the remainder of the week ahead. For this reason, expect continued hot and mainly dry weather with plenty of sunshine, with highs in the mid 90s each day. There will be sufficient moisture underneath this ridge to warrant a mention of isolated storms on Wednesday and again on Saturday, thanks to more southerly flow. The position of the ridge will create more easterly flow on Thursday and Friday which should limit moisture return ever so slightly. For this reason, models are hinting at a drier forecast and thus have taken mentionable PoPs out of the forecast for those days. && .AVIATION...(For the 12Z TAFS through 12Z Monday morning) Issued at 604 AM CDT Sun Sep 8 2019 VFR conditions will prevail through the TAF period at KHSV and KMSL with clear skies and light northerly winds. && .HUN WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
