245 FXUS66 KSTO 212150 AFDSTO Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Sacramento CA 250 PM PDT Wed Aug 21 2019 .SYNOPSIS... Strengthening high pressure will result in dry weather with above average temperatures into next week. && .DISCUSSION... The forecast remains on track this afternoon as a broad trough passes to our north. As a result of that, northern California is seeing high clouds over the region this afternoon; however, temperatures are still forecast to rise this afternoon as onshore flow weakens. Once the trough passes through the region, building high pressure will dominate the rest of the forecast period. Expect to see and feel above normal temperatures for most of the region through the weekend. Most areas will be 5-7 degrees warmer than usual during the day. && .EXTENDED DISCUSSION (Sunday THROUGH Wednesday)... For the extended period, our weather will continue to be influenced by the upper level high which extends NW from the Desert SW over interior Northern California as E Pacific high extends inland. Above normal temperatures look to continue through Wednesday, with triple digit heat expected in the Northern Sacramento Valley with upper 90s elsewhere in the Central Valley. && .AVIATION... VFR conditions the next 24 hours. Scattered to broken high clouds into the overnight, otherwise mostly clear. Winds under 12 knots except for in the Delta. && .STO WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
