447 FXUS66 KSGX 081527 AFDSGX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Diego CA 827 AM PDT Thu Aug 8 2019 .SYNOPSIS... Fair, dry and seasonal weather is expected this coming week. Low pressure will bring cooler weather through Saturday along with more extensive coastal clouds nights and mornings. This will be followed by higher pressure bringing warmer weather Sunday through Wednesday, and less extensive coastal clouds nights and mornings. && .DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE... SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES... Low clouds made it as far as south Riverside this morning as onshore flow has increased a bit. The cloud deck is quite thin allowing for a quick clearing pattern. The marine inversion is quite strong, which might prevent full or lasting clearing at some beaches today. A low pressure trough off the Northwest Coast will slowly push through the Northwest the next few days. That will keep our flow firmly onshore and daytime temperatures a little below average. Coastal clouds will reach into portions of the inland valleys each night and morning, but days should be sunny in all areas after the morning clearing. Next week, high pressure aloft over Texas builds slightly westward behind that trough. That will nudge temperatures upward a little Sunday through Wednesday while tamping down the marine layer. Less coastal cloud coverage should result each night and morning and daytime temps will be close to seasonal averages. The southwest flow aloft will keep SoCal in a dry air sweet spot for the entire coming week, dismissing any chance of thunderstorms. The persistent Northwest trough pattern appears to reassert itself later next week, hinting at another cooling trend and built up marine layer. && .AVIATION... 081530Z...Coast/Valleys...Marine stratus, with bases 800-1300 ft MSL and tops to 1800 ft MSL, will slowly clear towards the coast this morning, but may linger along the immediate coast through the afternoon.
