466 FXUS65 KMSO 210941 AFDMSO Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Missoula MT 341 AM MDT Sun Jul 21 2019 .DISCUSSION...High pressure ridging will lead to warmer and drier conditions today with highs about 10 degrees above Saturday’s readings. Moisture levels will increase on Monday and Tuesday as the ridge shifts to the east with daytime temperatures warming a few more degrees. Sprinkles will be possible early on Monday with scattered thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours, mainly south of I-90. Thunderstorm coverage will expand further northward on Tuesday focused mostly in the afternoon but a few rumbles of early morning thunder can’t be ruled out. A few strong thunderstorms will be possible late each day with gusty winds as the main threat. Thunderstorm chances will continue Tuesday night into Wednesday morning ahead of a weak cold front. This front will drop daytime temperatures 5 to 10 degrees with a noticeable increase in westerly winds. General southwest to west flow is anticipated Thursday into next weekend with seasonable temperatures in the mid 80s to low 90s. A few thunderstorms are possible but most places will remain dry. Occasionally breezy westerly winds are also likely which might awaken a few lightning strike holdovers. && .AVIATION...VFR conditions will prevail today across the region.
