While strong thunderstorms are expected over much of South Central and Southeast Kansas, severe thunderstorms will be possible along and north of a line from Salina, Hillsboro, Eureka and Chanute. Primary threat will be 60 mph winds but, quarter sized hail is also possible when the thunderstorms first develop. South of this line, thunderstorms are more likely to be strong with very heavy rain. Localized flooding will be possible along and east of the Turnpike. Heat indices of 101 to 107 will be possible over much of South Central and Southeast Kansas today. See the latest Excessive Heat Warning for details. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday A few strong storms with nickel sized hail, winds of 50 to 60 mph and heavy rain are possible for much of southeast and portions of Kansas early Monday morning. Widespread severe weather is not expected but an isolated severe storm can't be ruled out. Scattered showers be possible Friday and Saturday in North Central Kansas.
