390 FXUS63 KDLH 191943 AFDDLH Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Duluth MN 243 PM CDT Fri Jul 19 2019 .SHORT TERM...(This evening through Saturday) Issued at 243 PM CDT Fri Jul 19 2019 Severe weather potential for east-central MN and northwest Wisconsin this afternoon into early evening. All modes of severe weather will be possible - see latest Hazardous Weather Outlook for details. (Apologies for the brief discussion due to past, present, and future severe weather keeping us a little busy today!) Storms could clear out quickly west to east tonight with clearing skies late tonight. Lows as cool as the low 50s in northern Minnesota as drier air moves in, in the low 60s in northwest Wisconsin. Mainly sunny and nice on Saturday with highs in the upper 70s and much more comfortable dew points in the 50s. A low chance for a few showers across east-central MN and northwest Wisconsin, but very low potential for thunderstorms, and showers won't last all that long if they do develop. .LONG TERM...(Saturday night through Friday) Issued at 243 PM CDT Fri Jul 19 2019 Zonal flow will be in place in Sunday with a shortwave diving through the Upper Midwest Sunday afternoon into early Monday morning. This may lead to a few showers and storms, mainly across our western zones. Northwest flow will then set-up for the remainder of the extended. This will bring periodic rainfall chances through the week, but no significant systems are expected through the period. Sunday and Monday will see temperatures in the 70s to near 80 with 80s for most areas for the remainder of the week. && .AVIATION...(For the 18Z TAFS through 18Z Saturday afternoon) Issued at 1236 PM CDT Fri Jul 19 2019 VFR cloud decks are seen at all sites early this afternoon with light showers in the HIB, INL, BRD and DLH areas. These showers may linger in spots before additional storm development is expected, mainly at BRD and HYR, after 4PM/21Z. Storms may be severe with damaging winds and large hail, with a few tornadoes possible in the BRD area. Refinements to timing are expected once development becomes clearer as uncertainty still exists. In addition to MVFR ceilings in storms, visibility restrictions to MFVR/IFR will be possible. && .MARINE... Issued at 243 PM CDT Fri Jul 19 2019 Outside of the potential for a few thunderstorms this afternoon and evening along the South Shore of Lake Superior, no hazardous conditions are expected over the next 48 hours. Storms this afternoon/evening may contain wind gusts to 40 to 50 knots. Winds through Saturday will be generally westerly, but run southwest to northwest at times. A few gusts to around 12-15 knots will be possible during the day on Saturday. Waves will be 2 feet or less through the period. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
