SHORT TERM...Tonight through Saturday...Broad upper trough over the has brought relatively cool wx to our area. Two embedded lobes in the trough. The first lobe will exit east of us tonight so that Thursday will be a little warmer than today. The second will pass through Friday with another cooler surge. The coolest night will be Friday night when lows will be 50 to 55 in the valleys and upper 30s and 40s in the mountains and the plateaus in eastern Oregon. Saturday will begin a warming trend as the second lobe exits east. There still is enough moisture tonight for clouds in our far north and even a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm in northern-most Baker and Valley Counties this evening. After that skies will be only partly cloudy in the north and clear in the south through Saturday. Winds will be mainly from the west or northwest 5 to 15 mph through Saturday, but locally 15 to 25 mph in the Snake Basin and southeast Oregon during the afternoons. LONG TERM...Saturday night through Wednesday. Models continue to show the Four Corners High amplifying on Sunday and Monday. This will put the area into a warmer southwest flow. This pattern will continue through mid week, and monsoon moisture will likely advect into the area, especially into Western Idaho. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are possible, mainly on Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures will increase a few degrees each day, and remain 4-8 degrees above normal through the period. && .BOI WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... ID...None.
