796 FXUS64 KLUB 120653 CCA AFDLUB Area Forecast Discussion...CORRECTED National Weather Service Lubbock TX 153 AM CDT Fri Jul 12 2019 .DISCUSSION... Seasonally typical 4-Corners upper level high pressure ridge will remain the dominant feature until Monday or Tuesday. Early to mid week the ridge is expected to expand east into the southern plains and weaken slightly behind departing tropical cyclone remnants (far to our east) and as Pacific wave energy skirts by to the north. Through the weekend at least, steering flow will remain from the northeast and subsidence drying will continue. This argues for minimal consideration of thunderstorms. The pattern through the weekend also typically is quite warm but not especially hot and actually could see slight dewpoint drops at least on the Caprock. With the flattening ridge next week, however, low level flow may become a little more southerly and allow several or more degrees of warming. But the expanded ridge also could become prone to development of a weakness over the southern Rockies and southern high plains as monsoonal moisture improves just to our west next week. Solutions are not strongly indicating such a weakness or pulling significant monsoonal moisture back to the east, but this would not be unexpected as long as the new ridge center holds to our east late next week. Until better indications of significantly improved monsoonal flow, dry will dominate with only low thunder chances favoring our western border at times next week.
