Snow melt across the mountains will cause the Rio Grande to continue to run high and fast. River levels are expected to remain within banks...but the high flows will still be dangerous. Those participating in activities near the water are advised to use extreme caution. Strong currents could quickly become a safety hazard. Following is the latest available information... Rio Grande River At Alamosa... * At 7:30 AM Monday the stage was 7.6 feet. * Flood stage is 9.0 feet. * No flooding is currently forecast. High flows are not uncommon this time of year...but they still pose a serious threat to persons in or near the water. Each year...high flows result in mishaps that are sometimes fatal. Stay away from the banks of rivers and streams. During high water... saturated banks can easily break off and fall into potentially deadly...fast flowing water.
