Rainfall amounts in some locations, including near Fort Dodge were in the one half to one inch range. Elsewhere, rainfall amounts were around one quarter of an inch or less. Temperatures were very close to where they have been the past few mornings... bottoming out in the low to mid 60s. Normal low temperatures for this time of year are in the low to mid 06s, placing the temperatures for this morning near normal for this time of year. Winds were light and variable. For the rest of today, expect the showers to gradually expand southward, into central and southern Iowa. Rainfall amounts upwards of around 1 inch are possible through this afternoon and evening in southwestern Iowa. Temperatures for today will be around 5 to 10 degrees below normal as they top out in the 70s. Winds should be variable at around 5 to 10 mph. Overnight tonight, heavy rain is possible in southern Iowa to northern Missouri. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches is possible, with the highest amounts likely in northern Missouri. Thursday should be quiet, and then strong to severe weather may return for Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. Hot and humid weather is also looking increasingly likely Friday through Sunday, with temperatures making it back into the 80s and possibly 90s in southern Iowa. $$ Kotenberg
